Comparison

ModCheck vs AutoMod

AutoMod blocks the words. ModCheck blocks them too, plus the behaviour behind them.

What AutoMod is good at

AutoMod is a keyword filter with an ML pass bolted on. It blocks slurs, profanity and obvious harassment and holds them for a mod. Useful, free and built in. It's also the whole job: AutoMod has no idea what game you're on, what mood you're in or what chat said ten seconds ago, so everything that needs context walks straight past it.

The top rows, only ModCheck has. The rest, it does too.

What AutoMod misses

No banned word. No pattern to match. Just a message that only reads wrong once you know what's happening on stream. That's the gap a judge fills.

Chat already knows the tricks

A word list matches text. A regex matches text. So chat stops typing the text: leetspeak the slur, space out the threat, write the link as words. ModCheck reads what a message means, not how it's spelled, so the costume doesn't help.

Slips AutoModModCheck reads: an unsolicited link drop

ModCheck does AutoMod's job, and the one it can't

Write a judge for slurs and banned words and you've matched AutoMod. The difference is everything after that: backseating, pile-ons, covert digs, creepy 'compliments', all read in the context of your actual stream.

Keep AutoMod on if you want, it costs nothing. But ModCheck isn't a layer on top of a word list. It's the upgrade that also reads the room.
